“The icon is regarded as one of the ways by means of which it is possible and necessary to strive to achieve the task set before mankind, to achieve likeness to the prototype...” Leonid Ouspensky
Each of Cunis’ icons is written in careful observance of the long tradition of iconography in the Eastern Church. Although the artist is not formally trained in this magnificent practice, and uses both the traditional egg tempera and modern materials, she works with reverence for both the Prototype and the art form, sharing the goal of providing a window to the infinite.
